Car insurance in New York can be difficult to navigate. The things you want to keep in mind are what the requirement is by New York state. It may seem overwhelming, but I found the idea of being caught without it even more overwhelming. You are looking to cover at least $25,000 for bodily injury liability per person, up to a maximum of $50,000 per accident and at least $10,000 for property damage liability. It is often called 25/50/10 coverage. You can definitely up that amount, especially if it makes you feel more comfortable. I tend to go with a bit more and it helps me feel safer traversing through New York.
